Ocean Park Summer School Enrollment Instructions
(The Earth Keeper)

Who can join the programme?

All children aged from 11 to 15 years old are welcome to join our Programme. Experience an incredible summer at Ocean Park!

(A) Criteria for Participation

  1. This level is suitable for children aged 11 – 15.
  2. Participants suffering from any disease (including, but not limited to fever, cough, cold/flu, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, skin disease, heart disease, lung disease, haemophilia, epilepsy, fainting/giddiness/loss of consciousness when in close contact with animals, phobia of water or animals, allergy to fish or depressed immune mechanisms) are not recommended to participate in this Programme.
  3. Participants suffering from any infectious disease specified in the First Schedule to the Prevention and Control of Disease Ordinance (Cap 599 of the laws of Hong Kong) will not be allowed to take part in this Programme.
  4. To safeguard all participants, sick participants will be requested to stay home. Ocean Park reserves the right to request the sick participants leaving the Programme in case of such necessities.
  5. If a situation arises where a participant threatens the safety or security of another participant, or if a participant shows disregard of Programme guidelines, we will make every appropriate effort to communicate with the parents, and to handle and correct the behaviour. However, should the disruptive behaviour continue, the participant may be dismissed from the Programme at the discretion of Ocean Park. The Park will not be held responsible for any cost associated with a child's dismissal on the ground of disruptive behaviour.
  6. A condition of entry is to comply with all the park's By-laws and safety rules which are available at the entrance of Ocean Park. Ocean Park shall be under no liability or responsibility for any loss of any kind or any damage to any property of any person in the Park.
  7. Admission to the programme signifies your permission and agreement for Ocean Park to take and use participant's photographs or images for educational and promotional purposes.
  8. Participants must absolutely follow all the instructions given by the Park's staff at all times.

(B) General Information

  1. One application form for one participant only.
  2. All documents should be clearly filled in and to be signed by the parent/guardian.
  3. All payments made are non-refundable and non-transferable.
  4. The programme session chosen cannot be changed upon confirmation, except the circumstances stated in Part (F).
  5. All the programmes will be conducted in Cantonese except sessions 4B and 4C which will be conducted in English.
  6. Should the participant have any food allergy, special medical condition or require special attention, please state on the application form. Application will not be accepted if the special request exceeds the operational scope of Ocean Park.
  7. All participants will receive one T-shirt. Extra T-shirt can be ordered through the enrollment form.
  8. All participants are recommended to wear causal out-fit and bring a bottle of water, hat/cap, sunscreen lotion, rain gear and mosquito repellent. Participant may also bring daily necessities (e.g. tooth brush, toothpaste), pillow and warm clothes for the overnight activity if necessary. Please note that changing room and shower facilities are not available in the Park.
  9. Participant could bring their own sleeping bag and mattress, or they could be borrowed from us free of charge.
  10. Participants are not allowed to take photo, video or use mobile phone at the back-of-house of all animal facilities.

(C) Enrollment Method & Procedures

    Reservation can be made by submitting online forms prior to the closing date of enrollment. Enrollment will be considered on a first-come-first-serve basis. You will receive a reference number after completing the application procedure. We will send confirmation letter to successful applicant by email within 7 working days.

(D) Payment Method

    Payment should be made by credit card only. The programme fee will be debited from the credit card account provided on the enrollment form. All payments are non-refundable and non-transferable.

(E) Privilege for Ocean Park SmartFun Annual Pass Member

  1. Ocean Park SmartFun Annual Pass member could enjoy priority enrollment at 10:00am on 15 May 2012 and a 10% discount on programme fee.
  2. Participant must be valid SmartFun Annual Pass member in order to enjoy the privilege. Application can only be submitted with participant name same as the SmartFun membership card.
  3. Participant must present valid SmartFun Annual Pass for verification on the programme date. If fail to comply, applicant must settle the price difference before programme commencement.

(F) Cancellation and Changes of programme

  1. Decision for immediate cancellation of the programme shall be at the sole discretion of Ocean Park.
  2. Change of programme:
    The itinerary or content of the programme may be subject to change without prior notice.
  3. Programme will be cancelled under the following circumstances, please check the "Adverse Weather Policy" for further details:
    • A red or black rainstorm warning issued by The Hong Kong Observatory;
    • A Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3 or above hoisted by The Hong Kong Observatory;
    • An announcement of the suspension of schools by The Education Bureau or Social Welfare Department.



"Giant Panda Keeper Apprentice" Rules and Regulations

Who can join the programme?

For the health and safety of our participants, staff and giant pandas, the following criteria have been established by the Park. Every participant must meet these criteria. If at any time during the programme any participant is assessed by the animal supervisor as not being able to fulfill any of the following criteria, he/she will be asked to leave the programme and he/she must immediately comply with such a direction.div>

Section I: Criteria for participation:

  1. Participants must be aged 8 years or above.
  2. Participants, or in the case of participants under the age of 15 years, their parent/guardian remark 1 must complete and sign a Health Declaration Form before joining the programme.
  3. Participants, or in the case of participants under the age of 18 years, their parent/guardian must sign a Liability Release Form before joining the programme.
  4. Participants must at all times strictly follow every direction given by the Park's staff and to the satisfaction of the staff giving the instruction.
  5. Participants must not be suffering from any infectious disease remark 2 specified in the First Schedule to the Prevention and Control of Disease Ordinance (Cap 599 of the laws of Hong Kong).
  6. Participants must not have open cuts or infections.
  7. Participants who are suffering from any disease (including, but not limited to, fever, coughing, cold/flu, nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, skin disease, heart disease, lung disease, haemophilia, epilepsy, fainting/giddiness/loss of consciousness when in close contact with animals, phobia of water or animals, allergy to fish or depressed immune mechanisms) are not recommended to participate in this programme.
  8. This programme is not recommended for any person who is pregnant. To comply with health and safety considerations, pregnant participants must produce a valid current approval from a Hong Kong certified medical practitioner certifying that she is safe to participate in the programme.
  9. No direct contact with our animals will be offered during the programme, due to safety reasons.
  10. For hygiene reason in back-of-house facilities, participants will be requested to put on working suit provided by the Park.
  11. No device or equipment is to be taken during the programme without the prior permission of the Park's animal supervisor.
  12. All participants must pass a body temperature check by the Park's staff before their programme. If a participant's body temperature is higher than 38oC he or she may not be permitted to join the programme.
  13. The Park's animal supervisor shall at all times have the full and final right to determine whether any participant is suitable for joining the programme and may refuse entry if refusal is necessary to ensure safety or order.
  14. The criteria listed above are subject to change at the discretion of the Park and without prior notice.
Remark:
  1. 'Guardian' has the same meaning as in the < Guardianship of Minors Ordinance >.
  2. These diseases include acute poliomyelitis, amoebic dysentery, anthrax, bacillary dysentery, botulism, chickenpox, chikungunya fever, cholera, community-associated methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus infection, creutzfeldt-jakob disease, dengue fever, diphtheria, enterovirus 71 infection, escherichia coli O157:H7 infection, food poisoning, haemophilus influenza type b infection (invasive), hantavirus infection, influenza A (H2), influenza A (H5), influenza A (H7), influenza A (H9), swine influenza, Japanese encephalitis, legionnaires’ disease, leprosy, leptospirosis, listeriosis, malaria, measles, meningococcal infection (invasive), mumps, paratyphoid fever, plague, psittacosis, Q fever, rabies, relapsing fever, rubella and congenital rubella syndrome, scarlet fever, severe acute respiratory syndrome, smallpox, streptococcus suis infection, tetanus, tuberculosis, typhoid fever, typhus and other rickettsial diseases, viral haemorrhagic fever, viral hepatitis, west Nile virus Infection, whooping cough, and yellow fever.

Section II: Cancellation:

Decision for immediate cancellation of the Programme shall be at the sole discretion the Director of Zoological Operations & Education Division of the Park or his/her delegate.




"The Grand Aquarium Snorkelling Experience" Rules and Regulations

Who can join the programme?

Participants must be aware that snorkel in Grand Aquarium involve a degree of unpredictability, where quick reactions and strict attention to directions from the Park’s staff are essential. For the health and safety of all participants, staff and animals, every participant must meet the following criteria. If at any time during the programme any participant is assessed by the Park’s Aquarium Supervisor(s) as not being able to fulfill the following criteria, he/she will be asked to leave the programme and he/she must immediately comply with such direction.

Section I: Criteria for participation:

  1. Participants must be aged 10 years or above.
  2. Participants, or in the case of participants under the age of 15 years, their parent/guardians remark 1 must complete and sign a Health Declaration Form before commencing the programme.
  3. Participants must at all times strictly follow every instruction given by the Park’s staff and to the satisfaction of the staff giving the instruction.
  4. Participants must at all times strictly follow every instruction given by the Park's staff and to the satisfaction of the staff giving the instruction.
  5. Participants must be able to exit the pool quickly in case of emergency.
  6. Participants must not be suffering from any infectious disease remark 2 specified in the First Schedule to the Prevention and Control of Disease Ordinance (Cap 599 of the laws of Hong Kong).
  7. Participants must not have open cuts or infections.
  8. Participants who are suffering from any disease (including, but not limited to, fever, coughing, cold/flu, nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, skin disease, heart disease, lung disease, haemophilia, epilepsy, fainting/giddiness/loss of consciousness when in close contact with animals, phobia of water or animals, allergy to fish or depressed immune mechanisms), or under the influence of medication and/or alcohol are not recommended to participate in this programme.
  9. This programme is not recommended for any person who is pregnant. To comply with health and safety considerations, pregnant participants must produce a valid current approval from a Hong Kong certified medical practitioner certifying that she is safe to participate in the programme.
  10. No device or equipment (including camera and recording device) is to be taken into the pool without the prior permission of the Park's Aquarium Supervisor.
  11. All participants must pass a body temperature check by the Park’s staff before entering the pool. If a participant’s body temperature is higher than 38oC he or she may not be permitted to join the programme.
  12. The Park's Aquarium Supervisor shall at all times have the full and final right to determine whether any participant is suitable for the programme and may refuse entry if refusal is necessary to ensure safety or order.
  13. If the Park's property is found lost or damaged during the programme, reimbursement in full cost must be made by the participant.
  14. Participant must remove make-up, shower and pass footbath before entering the pool, and must wear buoyancy aid during snorkelling session.
  15. The criteria listed above are subject to change at the discretion of the Park and without prior notice.
